GTC’s multi-issue shows combine the best material from the single issue performances into innovative solutions for those situations where you need to cover a lot of ground in very little time. While not as in-depth as the single issue performances, multi-issue shows get students talking on a broader range of important campus issues and experiences.

These 90-minute shows includes three scenes. Each campus can customize the programs by choosing the scenes that best suit their needs.

The Scenes (your choice of 3 scenes)

Hannah, Ryan, and Darrick could be friends, but racist and sexist assumptions drive them apart. How can they learn to bridge the gaps?
Anna, Jim, and Pete came to the party together. But as Jim and Pete keep drinking, Anna wonders if they should leave together.
Jessica has been drinking at a Mardi Gras party. She’s been flirting with Nick, but should she accept his invitation to go upstairs and “get some more beads?”
When Nicole took Tom back to her room, she just wanted to kiss. He wanted more. Will he abide by her wishes?

SCENE I: Hanna, Ryan, and Darrick (Racism and Sexism)

What subtle prejudices do each of us carry with us and where do they come from?
How are those prejudices expressed?
Are micro aggressions real? Or are people just too sensitive?
What is the best response to subtle racist or sexist comments?
How do generalizations about people dehumanize them?
What privileges come with being of a certain race or sex?
What is the best way to get to know someone who is different?

Choices about drinking behavior: responsible drinking vs. problem drinking.
Binge drinking.
“Know Before You Go”: when to make choices about drinking.
Common reasons for drinking and alternatives to drinking.
Drinking and driving.
Dealing with a friend who has passed out.
Alcohol poisoning.

SCENE III: Jessica drinking at the Mardi Gras Party

Does alcohol affect judgment and control? Is there a link between alcohol and sexual assault?
What are date rape drugs?
Do we experience conflicted emotions around sexuality?
Do we use sexuality to gain acceptance? If so, can we control the results?
Does language create a rape-prone culture?
How do you assert your desire if someone isn’t listening?

SCENE IV: Tom and Nicole at her place

What is rape? Is it sex or assault?
What do you do when your partner says “NO?”
Who rapes and who gets raped?
What is consent? Does not saying “no” mean “yes?”
What can you do if you have been sexually assaulted?

The Sex & Drugs Show

This multi-issue program covers the basics of substance abuse, sexual communication, and sexual assault. Behaviors discussed include types of drinking behavior, the effect of substance abuse on academic performance, what happens when alcohol and sexual communication collide, as well as the difficult subject of sexual assault.
